Big data has been employed in a wide range of industrial application domains, including healthcare – where an electronic healthcare record (EHR) is used to facilitate medical services. For example; the use of health big data to potentially proffer patient health analysis, diagnosis assistance, and drug manufacturing.

 

Big data can be generated from several sources which may include online social graphs, mobile devices (i.e. smartphones), IoT devices (i.e. sensors), and public data in various formats such as text or video. In the context of covid-19, big data refers to the patient care data such as physician notes, x-ray reports, case history, list of doctors and nurses, and information of outbreak areas.
